Scenic Gauze

Scenic Gauze tricks the eye into think it’s a solid fabric, but once it’s lit from behind it virtually disappears, adding great depth and value to a scenic background that sits behind it.

Scenic Gauze Fabrics

Gauze as a fabric has been used in theatres and stages for decades due to its transformational properties. Scenic Gauze differs to Sharkstooth Gauze slightly as it has a hexagonal weave that is slightly larger than Sharkstooth. As a light-duty net, it can effectively soften the focus of the scenery that’s painted behind it and add some depth to it.

On application it can be hung loose or stretched as a cyclorama against black drapes, helping to hide wrinkles and creases. Its fineness means from an audience perspective the fabric will virtually disappear when the scenery behind it is lit, however when it’s lit from the front it will appear to be an opaque fabric. We stock Scenic Gauze in both black and white styles, and care should be taken to ensure they don’t come into contact with water.
