What is Wool Serge?

Serg is a type of twill fabric that has diagonal lines or ridges on both sides, made with a two-up, two-down weave.

Wool Serge Characteristics

Wool Serge is a heavy and dense fabric. The double-sided material has great acoustic properties, which makes it a great choice for stage theatrical drapes, borders, legs and skirting.

The fabric also has strong flame-retardant properties which gives peace of mind and helps to meet industry regulations.

Wool Serge is our biggest range of staging fabric we stock and is also the most popular with our customers. Whilst black wool serge is most commonly ordered, we have it available in three different styles and an impressive 27 colours; from bold classy Oxford blue and burgundy to subtle creams and grey neutrals. Not forgetting the Chromaky Green, perfect for television and photographic studios.
