Bolton Twill
Bolton Twill is an inexpensive alternative to Wool Serge which is great for schools or low-budget productions.
Bolton Twill Fabrics
Bolton Twill is a style of woven cloth that has a pattern of diagonal ribs. Its production originates from the UK town of Bolton and is often chosen as a fabric for theatrical curtains due to the complex pattern hiding surface dust and dirt. It is ideal for schools and low-budget productions, as it’s a cheaper alternative to Wool, and it is slightly lighter in weight which makes it easier to work with.
Although it can be used as a backdrop or for curtains, Bolton Twill is also useful as a protective backing to reinforce the density of a Wool Serge solution where light may leak through from nearby lamps. Our warehouse stocks Bolton Twill in three different colours which are all available on a shade card on request. We produce each of our Bolton Twill fabrics with a non-durable flame retardant finish and care should be taken to ensure it is kept dry.
