Lame is a polyester based material that is perfect if you’re looking to add a bit of glamour and charm to your project.
Lame is a striking material that’s woven with thin ribbons of metallic yarns. Its glossy finish catches the light, and gives a sense of movement to its application. Once upon a time Lame was a favourite fabric for futuristic TV costumes but nowadays its more commonly used for evening attire, theatrical costumes and backdrops.
Made from polyester it reflects light brilliantly and comes in either silver or gold. Elvis Presley is a famous example of showing off Lame’s qualities, with his 1950s gold-leaf tuxedo being produced out of gold Lame. It’s ideal if you’re wanting to add a touch of glitz and glamour to a stage or theatre venue. At Whaley’s we stock Lame in three different styles, Micro Dot, Classic or Mirror in either silver or gold.
